Advantech boards are used across industrial and embedded computing environments where reliability, I/O flexibility, rugged operation, expansion support, and long-term system compatibility matter. Many legacy Advantech platforms depend on specific form factors, BIOS settings, chipset support, PC/104 stack compatibility, CompactPCI or VPX architecture, carrier boards, I/O layouts, operating systems, enclosures, and application software, so repair or replacement should be reviewed carefully before substitution.
Advantech Board Types We Support
Single Board Computers
Support for legacy Advantech embedded SBCs, including Pico-ITX, 3.5-inch, 5.25-inch, EBX, and other compact industrial computing board platforms.
Industrial Motherboards & Slot SBCs
Support for Advantech industrial motherboards, slot SBCs, PICMG-style boards, and chassis-based industrial computer platforms.
PC/104, CompactPCI & VPX Boards
Support for Advantech PC/104, PC/104-Plus, CompactPCI, VPX, and modular embedded boards used in long-life and mission-critical systems.
Computer-on-Modules & Carrier Platforms
Support for Advantech COM modules and carrier-board-based platforms where connector type, BIOS, I/O, chipset, and carrier-board compatibility must be reviewed.
When an Advantech Board Fails
A failed or unstable Advantech board can affect the larger industrial computer, embedded platform, rackmount IPC, automation system, transportation platform, backplane chassis, carrier-board system, or OEM machine it supports. The issue may appear as boot failure, power instability, missing I/O, communication faults, display failure, storage detection problems, PCI or PCIe expansion issues, PC/104 stack problems, CompactPCI/VPX communication faults, intermittent operation, overheating, or application-level instability. Because many Advantech boards are used in long-life systems, replacement should be reviewed for form factor, chipset, BIOS, I/O layout, bus architecture, module type, operating system, backplane, carrier-board, and enclosure compatibility.
Power, Boot, or Startup Failure
The board may fail to power on, complete POST, retain BIOS settings, detect memory, recognize storage, initialize display output, or load the operating system.
I/O, Expansion, or Bus Problems
Ethernet, serial ports, USB, display outputs, LVDS, storage interfaces, PCI, PCIe, PC/104, CompactPCI, VPX, or carrier-board interfaces may stop working correctly.
Obsolete or Compatibility-Sensitive Platform
The original Advantech board may be discontinued, revision-sensitive, or difficult to replace without checking BIOS, chipset, I/O, form factor, module, backplane, carrier-board, or enclosure requirements.
Where Advantech Boards Are Used
Advantech boards are commonly used in systems that require dependable embedded computing, industrial I/O, modular expansion, compact form factors, and long-term hardware continuity. These systems may include industrial automation, transportation systems, medical equipment, gaming platforms, rackmount industrial computers, edge computing devices, test systems, network appliances, digital signage, machine vision platforms, and specialized OEM machines.
Industrial Automation & Embedded Control
Used in equipment that requires stable processing, industrial I/O, expansion support, and dependable embedded computing for machine-level operation.
Transportation, Medical & Edge Systems
Used in systems where operating system support, I/O layout, display behavior, thermal design, enclosure fit, and long-term reliability matter.
Rackmount, Modular & OEM Platforms
Used in chassis-based, PC/104, CompactPCI, VPX, and custom OEM systems where downtime or incompatible substitutions can interrupt operations.
How Embedded Repair Labs Can Help
Evaluation Review
We review the Advantech part number, symptoms, photos, board type, form factor, module type, chassis, backplane, carrier-board details, operating system, and system application.
Repair Support
Where practical, we support repair paths for failed, unstable, intermittent, or damaged Advantech boards and modules.
Replacement Guidance
If repair is not practical, we help identify compatible replacement options, equivalent boards, modules, or alternate sourcing paths.
Functional Testing
Where applicable, repaired or supplied Advantech boards are checked for startup and functional behavior before return.
Before You Send an Advantech Board Request
For faster review, include the Advantech part number, board type, fault symptoms, quantity, system model, operating system, application or equipment where the board is used, and clear photos of the board. If the board is obsolete or unavailable, include any required form factor, BIOS, I/O, PC/104 stack, CompactPCI or VPX slot, module, connector, carrier-board, backplane, or enclosure compatibility requirements.
